the first post

The first post is a doozy. It's the first impression you are making on people. It's setting the tone for the whole blog. In my perfectionist, type A mind, it has to be perfect. A lot of thought has gone into this post...too much thought. Which I tend to do with most things. The problem with thinking is that you can just stay there forever.
So this first post is about doing...chocolate loaf cake that is.
This is a recipe that the lovely Heidi Swanson recreated from the lovely Nigella Lawson. (Two of my favorite chefs.) The original recipe can be found in Nigella's book How to Be a Domestic Goddess.
I fell in love with this recipe way back when and have tried to make it my own a million times. Last night I simply made Heidi's version which is linked here. I left out the lemon zest and used Jovial Einkorn All Purpose flour instead of spelt flour. I used Guittard unsweetened chocolate baking bars which can be purchased here or found at fine grocery stores. I've found that it's worth the extra money to splurge on good chocolate...since that is the focus in this recipe.
The cake comes out moist and delicious...I love to eat it for breakfast with a dollop of plain yogurt.
If you love chocolate, do yourself a favor and make this. It's easy and very rewarding!
And with that my first post is done.
